WHAT
VIA will be replacing track components, performing track surfacing, rail destressing as well as rehabilitating public grade crossings to improve track conditions.
WHY
For safety purposes and to comply with current federal regulation.
WHERE
On the Alexandria, Beachburg, Smiths Falls, Brockville and Chatham Subdivisions.
WHEN
April 15th to November 14th 2026. Most of the work takes place at night.
Specifically (dates are subject to change) :
- Alexandria Subdivision : May to June
- Beachburg Subdivision: June to July
- Smiths Falls Subdivision: April to August
- Brockville Subdivision: August to September
- Chatham Subdivision : September to October
The work to be performed is linear: work in a specific location can be expected to last a few days.

- Alexandria Sub. MP 68.94 - Farmer’s Way – June 5th 2026
- Alexandria Sub. MP 38.8 - Highway 138 – September 11th 2026
- Chatham Sub. MP 77.31 - Litehouse Road – September / October
- Chatham Sub. MP 81.88 - Comber Road - September / October
- Chatham Sub. MP 97.28 - Brighton Road - September / October
