VIA Rail Canada would like to inform residents near its Toronto Maintenance Centre that construction and upgrades will be conducted in your community starting in Spring 2023, with a targeted completion date of 2026.
WHY?

It is an important pillar of the Corridor Fleet Replacement Program, in order to service and maintain VIA Rail’s 32 new trains as well as continue to maintain the existing fleet.
WHAT?
Modernization of VIA Rail’s Toronto Maintenance Centre
The project to modernize the maintenance centres in Montréal and Toronto is part of the Fleet Replacement Program, for which funds were allocated in the Federal government’s 2018 budget. As part of the $1.5B overall budget for the New Fleet are being invested in the modernization of VIA Rail’s maintenance centres, the implementation and integration of various IT systems as well as the transformation of maintenance processes.
The Toronto Maintenance Centre (TMC) project includes building and facility infrastructure upgrades required at TMC to continue servicing and maintaining the VIA Legacy Fleet and the New Fleet.
