VIA Rail Canada (VIA Rail) is pleased to provide advanced notice to residents of upcoming track infrastructure upgrades along the railway corridor in your community.
WHY: For operational reasons.
WHAT: Rehabilitation of the track and installation of signal lights within the railway right-of-way.
The majority of the work is planned to take place during normal construction hours (7am – 10pm). However, for operational reasons, some work will occur overnight while trains are not operating on the tracks. This work might cause some noise at times. VIA Rail will aim to limit inconveniences that may result from work carried out.
WHEN: The following schedule is approximate and is subject to revision or adjustment as necessary.
End of Summer 2019
Start of construction work on railway right-of-way (Starting August 19th until mid-September)
- Site preparation
- Contractor on site
- Establishment of road access from Eleanor St.
Track work on railway right-of-way (Starting September 3rd until mid-October)
- Material unloading on site
- Assembly of track and turnout components
- Installation of track and turnout components
- Distribution and surfacing of ballast
Signal work on railway right-of-way (Starting August 19th until end of October)
- Ground work
- Connection to hydro services
- Installation of signal masts and hut
- Signal pre-tests and tests
- Siding track in service (Starting end of January to mid-February)
WHERE: The work will take place within the railway corridor between Brockville Station and the bridge South of Front Avenue on the Brockville Subdivision. Please see map for more details.
